TYWLS East Harlem “Girls Take Wall Street” in Celebration of Women’s History Month

On Friday, March 1 2019, The Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem (TYWLS EH) kicked off Women’s History Month by sending 60 juniors and seniors to the first annual “Girls Take Wall Street” event, sponsored by Bloomberg, UBS, and State Street Global Advisors. This initiative brought together over 100 high school girls from KIPP NYC and The Young Women’s Leadership Schools, in an effort to encourage and promote an interest in the career of finance.

The girls spent their day visiting UBS and Bloomberg offices where they engaged in workshops and career panels to learn more about what it takes to be successful in the finance industry. Highlights from the days’ events included meeting The Honorable Michael Bloomberg and Student Leadership Network founder, Ann Tisch.

The students ended their day at the New York Stock Exchange where they were photographed with the Fearless Girl statue and, at 4pm sharp, our very own Reina ‘19 had the honor of ringing the NASDAQ’s closing bell.
