News 12 Bronx interviewed a student from Bronx Envision Academy, a CollegeBound Initiative partner school, at the annual My Brother’s Keeper event hosted at Monroe College.
Three CBI directors of college counseling—Ivan Jackson from Eagle Academy for Young Men Bronx, Gina Jones from Bronx Envision Academy, and Jeff Petway from Business of Sports School—chaperoned the trip for their respective schools to support their students’ development and broaden their pathways to college.

Over 200 young Black men from across the five boroughs gathered at Monroe College for the school’s annual My Brother’s Keeper event. Students were able to engage in educating conversations on topics ranging from financial literacy and future plans to the qualities of being a good man and taking care of their fellow men.
“To know that I have other brothers looking out for me and I’m looking out for them is a very special thing,” said Jayden, a student at Bronx Envision Academy.
