Originally broadcast on BronxNet on October 5, 2026

BronxNet featured Student Leadership Network’s Collaborative College Fair in the Bronx, where more than 500 public school students explored over 70 colleges and other postsecondary programs. Hosted at Lehman College, the Bronx/Queens Collaborative College Fair is one of three borough-wide fairs coordinated this fall by the CollegeBound Initiative for Student Leadership’s partner schools. The fair increases high school seniors’ awareness of a range of college options and connects them with admissions representatives to support their application journey.

Excerpts from the broadcast:

Roberto, a high school student, is interviewed by BronxNet

“I want to study finance or business analytics.”

“I would like to pursue software engineering or something in the computer science or engineering fields.”

“I want to study health science or public health.”

Lehman College and Student Leadership Network hosts a college fair for high school students to receive information and resources on various educational opportunities. Student Leadership Network is celebrating its 30th birthday of serving the community. Over the course of those thirty years, they have helped over 30,000 students access higher education.

“Not enough students from low-income backgrounds are gaining access to college, and we’re here to change that,” said Jon Roure, Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer of Student Leadership Network. “Actually, we’ve been changing that. Our students enroll in college at the same rate as their more affluent peers nationwide.”

“We want them to experience it all, whether it’s a two-year, four-year, CUNY, SUNY, or private [college]. We want them to experience anything that they can possibly experience,” added Christopher Milton, Associate Director of Admissions at CUNY Lehman College.

“It opens up more opportunities,” reflected one of the students, Roberto G. “Sure, you can just get a job and you can manage, you can get by. But going to college and getting a degree opens up so much more for you. It just helps out for your future.”
