SL Network remains more committed than ever to ensuring no student falls through the cracks or is left behind in securing a successful future.

Joselyn, College Transition Coach at The Young Women’s Leadership School of Brooklyn, now holds flexible office hours at night, to accommodate the overloaded schedules of students working essential jobs.

COVID-19 affects all of our lives, but our newsfeeds don’t always show how this pandemic impacts the most vulnerable young people in New York City and across the country. With schools closed, many marginalized students lose all-important daily structure, stability, mental health resources, and college readiness.

Student Leadership Network remains more committed than ever to ensuring that no student falls through the cracks or is left behind in securing a successful future. During the COVID-19 crisis in NYC, SL Network:

Your support will help our students complete their secondary school educations and be ready to take on the future with the best preparation possible, no matter what comes next.

Nearly 65% of our students will be the first in their families to attend college, and high school graduation is an incredibly significant milestone. Because of COVID-19, they will miss the chance to mark this moment and celebrate all they have accomplished. Our staff—like Pedro, director of college counseling at Williamsburg Preparatory Academy in Brooklyn—are there to let our students know we are all in this together.

We are excitedly watching college acceptances come in—like Urban Assembly School for Applied Math and Science’s Aminata’s acceptance to Syracuse University—and cheering them on. But our 2,665 high school seniors still need a final push of motivation and support as they receive good news from colleges, decide what works for them and their families, and get ready to face a still-uncertain future in the fall.

All donations will be used to fund our work with students through the next academic year to ensure they get as much support and consistency as possible in this new and changing environment.
